We Are genoSCORE – We Are Innovating to Change Minds

What We Believe

We want to empower you by giving you the chance to discover your personal risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Driven by our mission, we make scientific advances that would normally be reserved for clinical research available to ordinary people.

Our genes carry the information that determines our characteristics. They help to shape the person we are. That’s true for all of us. At We Are genoSCORE, we believe that understanding our genes can help us in many ways, including preparing us for future health issues such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s has a devastating impact on people’s lives - sufferers, their families, and friends - and it’s something we care passionately about. We want to help fight back. And while we can’t offer you a cure, we can help you to find out what’s written in your genes.

Knowledge is power. For some knowing your Alzheimer’s risk might mean being prepared, for others, it might mean peace of mind. Importantly, we believe that it is your choice whether to find out. genoSCORE-ACT makes it possible for you to access the knowledge you want

Who We Are

Our HQ is in Manchester, and that’s where we do all our UK testing too. We Are genoSCORE is the brainchild of Dr Richard Pither, our CEO, who led the team that created the genoSCORE-ACT.

Richard has been involved in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical products for more than 20 years. He has held senior R&D positions in global pharmaceutical companies including GE Healthcare, UCB-Celltech, Lorantis, and Amersham plc. He was involved in the development of a novel way of imaging amyloid deposition in the brains of people with Alzheimer’s disease. Richard has a Bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Pathology and a PhD in Molecular Immunology from the University of Bristol. He carried out post-doctoral research into Viral Microbiology at Harvard Medical School in the US. Richard is committed to translating state-of-the-art science in ways that are accessible for all, enabling everyone to take a proactive approach to their long-term health.

What We’re Here For

We’ve worked hard to offer polygenic risk score technology (PRS) to anyone who wants to understand their genes better.

PRS was developed in the last few years by clinical researchers studying the origins of Alzheimer’s disease. By collaborating with leading scientific groups at the Universities of Cardiff and Exeter, and University College London, we developed a simple, saliva-based, at-home test for personal use.

Our genoSCORE-ACT test evaluates over 100,000 genetic variations in your DNA that are related to Alzheimer’s disease, so you get a comprehensive picture of your risk. Having this knowledge as well as understanding your APOE genotype will give you the reassurance to make the best decisions for your brain health.

We believe in sharing what we know about brain health, so you have the freedom to make the right decisions for you. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more information. Here you’ll also find ‘Ask Dr Richard’ – where the boss answers frequently asked questions.

And simply, that’s why we’re here, because we want to help fight back against Alzheimer’s.
